Know Thyself Then You Will Be Known
Self-reflection is the habit of deliberately paying attention to your own thoughts, emotions, decisions, and behaviors. The only way to get to know yourself is to spend time with yourself. So many people are afraid of spending some alone time with themselves but that is what is necessary in order to enact change. Self-knowledge is the key to the knowledge of Truth of God. And throughout the ages, all the great enlightened beings taught this very same lesson. When I began to study, to show myself approved, I first had to study myself. I had to learn all about me.
Examine yourself & understand who you are… "Whoever does not know self, does not know anything. But, whoever knows self, has acquired the knowledge of the universe.” ~ Jesus, Book of Thomas (Gnostic Gospels). You see, we are always running from ourselves, our thoughts, our disappointments, our failures, but I want you to stop running. Look at yourself in the mirror and see who you really are. If you don't like yourself, change you!
"Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom.” – Lao-Tzu. As you can see, every great leader knows that the knowledge of self is true knowledge. “This is true knowledge, to seek the Self…To seek anything else is ignorance.” – Bhagavad-Gita. “He who knows himself knows God.” – The prophet Muhammad. “The body is the temple of the god within you. And therefore, it is said, “Man: know thyself.” – ~ Egyptian Proverb. “Jesus said, ‘When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you shall know that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty.'” – Gospel of Thomas. “Those who know and realize the Self are forever free.” – Katha Upanishad. “All the scriptures tell us one thing: Know Thyself. If you have known yourself, you have known everything else.” – Swami Satchidananda .
Real self-knowledge consists in knowing what we are within! It is knowing where we have come from, where we are going, and for what purpose we have entered this world. When we study God's word, we discover these three things, where we come from; where we are going; and and the purpose for entering this life. We discover our true purpose and we don't fear the unknown.
You discover that you come from a royal lineage – one of love, compassion, peace, strength, happiness, wisdom, and courage. We don't have to focus on our shortcomings or our failures. God does not mind our imperfections, so, do not dwell on your short-comings and do not dwell on your faults. Instead, spend your energy dwelling on your inner perfection; the part of you that is made in the image & likeness of God. That is your birth-right. When you discover who you really are, a child of the Most High God, you become empowered by all you have inside.
When you look inside yourself, you will awaken to the God in you. Through this realization, you will be able to confidently & boldly declare with certainty that “I & the Father are one!”
